The Kaduna State University has announced that students having financial difficulties will be allowed to take exams even if they have outstanding school fees for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The university’s management, in a statement on Thursday, said the move was under the directive of Governor Uba Sani, to reduce the impact of current economic challenges on its student body.
The statement partially said, “The management wants to inform both new and returning students for the 2023/2024 academic session that they can now take the upcoming examinations regardless of whether they have paid their school fees or not.
“This is in line with the forward-thinking policy of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, aimed at lessening the current economic challenges faced by students.”
The statement added that the university Bursar’s office is open for more information and inquiries about the temporary clearance policy.
“However, for those students wanting to pay their school fees, the payment channels remain unchanged,” it added.
PUNCH reported in 2023 how the Kaduna State governor announced the downward review of fees payable in state-owned tertiary institutions.
Sani noted that the downward review was in line with the general increase in the cost of living, following the subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
