The Lagos government has started removing more than 100 small, crudely built houses at the Adeniji Adele under-bridge area of the state.
The Lagos commissioner for environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced this information on X.com on Monday.
He stated, βThe joint task force of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial (KAI) and Lagos State Environment and Special Offences team, began removing the makeshift houses and temporary structures constructed under Adeniji Adele bridge after the expiration of the eviction notice.β
Remember that Tokunbo revealed on Sunday that the evacuation of over 100 crude houses under the bridge at Adeniji Adele would start today after the 48-hour removal notice given to all occupants of the makeshift houses to relocate with their belongings.
Last week, the state government stated that it is intensifying efforts to apprehend suspected gang leaders who leased 86 apartments in the Dolphin Estate Bridge in Ikoyi.
After a finding by the state government last Wednesday, it was discovered that 86 divided rooms, measuring 10Γ10 and 12Γ10, were being used as temporary apartments under the bridge. People living in these rooms are reportedly paying N250,000 per year.
