Diamonds to all the young people taking part in the 50th performance of the “living stations of the cross” for St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in St. Aloysius Church this year. Dressed in traditional clothing representing Jesus Christ, Mary, Pontius Pilate and other characters from the Bible, they solemnly reenacted the Catholic version of the trial, suffering and death of Christ, including a “15th station” that honored the Resurrection, with joyful angels leading the emergence of Christ from the tomb. It's clear that the chance to portray the Christian Savior was especially meaningful for 18-year-old Peter Stec, who saw it as a glimpse into his future as a priest. “It’s a very emotional thing,” he said. It was also undoubtedly emotional for many who have attended or participated in the event for the last five decades, as some now watch their children perform in a production they themselves helped organize.
