Former Niger Delta militant leader and founder of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, is concerned about the state of the national economy. He is urging all Nigerians to be vigilant against those who are trying to harm the country's oil and gas economy for their own gain.
He said, "Our economy is in great need of help, so we cannot just sit back and let some people damage the nation's economy because of their greed."
Tompolo made these comments at Oporoza, the headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday. This was shortly after he was honored with the Nigeria Union of Journalists Meritorious Award by the union's national president, Chief Chris Isiguzo.
The NUJ President recognized that the award was given to Tompolo for his outstanding efforts in safeguarding oil and gas infrastructure by stopping oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.
The event also included Tompolo's induction into the Niger Delta Hall of Fame by members of the Delta Online Publishers Forum.
Tompolo further emphasized, "I don't have any other home, except Nigeria. Nigeria is my only country. So, we all need to work together to protect Nigeria and move it forward."
Isiguzo explained that the Union decided to give Tompolo the meritorious award during the last NUJ National Security Conference in Abuja, after carefully considering his activities and successes in addressing economic sabotage.
The NUJ President stated, "Tompolo has set the standard for securing Nigeria from economic instability in the Niger Delta region."
He urged the media, as well as other security forces, agencies, and Nigerians in general, to support him in continuing the good work he is doing.
Isiguzo noted, "After evaluating the activities of TSSNL, we decided that we must give the necessary recognition to the man who leads this organization, who founded it, who has exceptionally distinguished himself, and who has been commended by Nigerians from all walks of life."
He encouraged journalists to keep doing their part by sharing information with security agencies and operatives to promote peace, harmony, and progress in the country.
