On Saturday night, the Katsina State Police Command announced a reward of fifty million naira for the capture of two alleged bandit leaders.
The police identified the suspects as Modi Modi and Jan Kare.
According to a special bulletin released by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the wanted bandits were active in Kankara and Safana Local Government Areas of the state.
The bulletin titled, “Public Notice: Fifty million naira (N50,000,000.00) Reward for Information leading to arrest of banditry kingpins” was issued.
It stated, “The Katsina State Police Command is offering a reward of fifty million naira (N50,000,000:00) to any person providing valuable information that leads to the arrest of two bandit kingpins known as (1) Modi Modi, m, and (2) Jan Kare, m, who operate in Katsina State, particularly in the regions of Kankara and Safana Local Government Areas.
“The safety and well-being of the residents of the state are of paramount importance, and the Katsina State Government and Katsina State Police Command, as well as other sister security agencies in the state, are committed to taking decisive action against criminal elements that threaten the peace and stability of the inhabitants of the state.
“This reward demonstrates our dedication to ensuring justice prevails, as security is a collective responsibility.
“This initiative aims to improve security operations in our state and combat the activities of these criminal elements.
The police command also guaranteed to keep the identity of informants providing information that leads to the arrest of the wanted bandits confidential.
The bulletin also added, “The identity of the informant and the information provided will be kept strictly confidential to ensure their safety and protection.
“Therefore, all citizens are encouraged to come forward with any relevant details that could help the security agencies in apprehending the masterminds behind these serious crimes of Kidnapping and Banditry. Together, we can make our State safer for all residents.”

The PUNCH recalls that bandits recently renewed attacks on communities in Katsina State.
Some residents of Wurna in Kurfi Local Government Area protested the attacks by blocking the Katsina/Dutsinma Highway on Friday morning.
On Friday, Governor Dikko Radda and the state police commissioner, Aliyu Musa, visited the community, where the Governor urged the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to the state to address security challenges.
