Wilkes University got a $14,000 state grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to improve law enforcement.
The grant was announced by State Representative Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Wilkes-Barre, in a news release on Wednesday.
Pashinski said in the news release that campus police officers are sworn police who protect the campus and surrounding areas, as well as the people there. He also mentioned that the funding will make students, faculty, staff, and parents feel safer.
Pashinski also stated in the news release that the funding will help campus police protect the people there, and he feels proud to have helped get this money for his alma mater to ensure a higher level of safety for the campus and community.
The funding is aimed at supporting Act 120 training and recruitment activities for law enforcement officers. Act 120 is a mandatory training program for municipal police officers in Pennsylvania provided through the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission.
