The Ogun State Police Command has started looking for the people who kidnapped Nurat Ogundipe and the motorcycle rider who was carrying her when they were taken by the kidnappers.
They were traveling from Ijio, Iwere Ile, an Oyo community that borders Ogun State on Monday, April 1, when they were reportedly kidnapped.
An onlooker reported the incident to the Divisional Police Officer at Imeko in Imeko/Afon Local Government Area of the state.
The command's spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, revealed this in a statement provided to journalists on Tuesday.
Odutola stated that hunters, vigilantes, So Safe officers, officials of Amotekun Corps, forest guards, and police are already searching the forest to rescue the victims.
The statement said, “A suspected kidnapping was reported by eyewitnesses to the Divisional Police Officer of Imeko Division.
“According to the report, Nurat Ogundipe “f” was abducted along with the motorcycle rider on April 1, 2024 at about 1500hrs, while returning from Ijio Iwere Ile a community in Oyo State that shares boundaries with Ogun State.
“Following the abduction, the DPO, in collaboration with hunters, forest guards, Vigilante, So Safe and Amotekun have been deployed to the forest on bush combing, to ensure the rescue and safety of the two persons kidnapped.
“The Commissioner of Police has been briefed and other security formations have been alerted. There is no cause for fear, as material resources and all external security measures have been activated to guarantee that the victims are released safely”.
Less than two weeks ago, Oladapo Seyifunmi and Oluboboye Abiola were kidnapped at the Celestial Church of Christ, Oriyarin Parish, Mowe in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of the state,
While the police said that Seyifunmi had regained his freedom, Abiola is still in the den of the abductors.
Tunde Osifowokan, farm manager at Flourishing Poultry Farm, Idowa in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state was also kidnapped last month when some gunmen invaded the community.
