A Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the money laundering case against Binance and its officials until April 8.
The trial judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, delayed the decision after hearing arguments about serving the charge on Binance Holdings Limited.
The defendants; Binance Holdings Limited and Tigran Gambaryan, were supposed to be officially accused on Thursday but this was delayed due to objection from the counsel for the second defendant, Mark Mordi, (SAN).
Mordi argued that his client should not be accused because the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission did not properly serve Binance Holdings Limited.
He noted that his client was not an agent, director, or representative of the company in the country and therefore could not be served on behalf of the first defendant.
However, the counsel for the EFCC, E.E. Iheanacho, disagreed with him.
He stated that the second respondent is a representative of the first defendant in the country and received the charge on behalf of the company but refused it.
Iheanacho said the second defendant's lawyer should not argue for the first defendant.
He asked the court to declare the first defendant not guilty and proceed with the trial.
