Elizabeth Hurley did not have a very long role on “Gossip Girl,” but it was definitely memorable. It turns out, her son assisted the rest of the cast on set, especially Blake Lively.
Hurley and her son Damian visited “The View” on Thursday morning to promote their new movie “Strictly Confidential,” where Elizabeth acts and Damian directs. Because of the actress' long career, the ABC hosts were interested in whether being on set with his mother influenced Damian's decision to direct.
They were certain that it did and pointed out that being together on the “Gossip Girl” set was particularly influential.
“When he came onto ‘Gossip Girl,’ his eyes, they were just like saucers,” Elizabeth said. “And he was just like, ‘This is my world.'”
According to the young director, he became close to series star Blake Lively, who portrayed Serena Van der Woodsen.
“I’d learn all her lines and I’d hide on set with her and whisper them if she forgot them,” Damian said. “It was just, honestly, it was the best environment in the world for a young creative to grow up in.”
Elizabeth appeared in 14 episodes of the CW series as Diana Payne. She had a tumultuous affair with Chace Crawford’s character Nate Archibald in Season 5.
Damian also mentioned that, apart from “Gossip Girl,” he absorbed everything during his time on set with his mother.
