With the playoffs coming up soon, the Boston Celtics will need a healthy roster, including Jaylen Brown, who has been dealing with an injury recently.
Following the Celtics' win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 3, Brown disclosed the full details of his latest injury.
“I believe I may have a sprain or a strain in a ligament in my hand, but I think it's okay,” Brown stated, according to Noa Dalzell. account. It’s something I'm not worried about going forward. It bothered me a bit tonight, but part of it is working through it, playing through it, which provides more information in the future if things were to worsen, but I think it's nothing to be concerned about.
The Celtics secured homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs with their win over the Thunder. Brown indicated that his injury isn't serious, but the Celtics can choose to rest him for the remainder of the regular season if needed.
Brown also doesn't need to worry about playing enough games to qualify for accolades like All-NBA and All-Defense. As he has played 67 games, he has met the 65-game criteria to qualify.
Al Horford supports Jaylen Brown’s bid for the All-Defense team
Horford believes his Celtics teammate has a strong case for making an NBA All-Defense team. In fact, Horford advocated for Brown to make the team.
“He wants the responsibility on the defensive end,” Horford told reporters, according to Taylor Snow's account. “Many people might say they want those challenges, but he’s facing all kinds of different players. He's guarding Stephen Curry, he's guarding Zion (Williamson), just different guys that he has to match up against. Being very unbiased and clear, he's First Team All-Defense… He deserves to be in that position.”
Horford himself has been part of an NBA All-Defense Team during his second season with the Celtics in 2018. Brown has never made it, but he has received other recognitions like the All-Star team and All-NBA.
Jaylen Brown Shares a Mysterious Message
Before the game against the Thunder, Brown took to his personal account to post a somewhat mysterious message: “You might not appreciate it now, but you will in time.”
Brown did not explain what he was referring to, but it may be connected to the Celtics’ performance during the 2023-24 season. The Celtics have secured homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs for the first time since winning the title in 2008 and may potentially be the only team to win 60 games.
He has posted cryptic messages before that seem to relate to the Celtics. When the team struggled to stay competitive in 2022, he posted on his account that “The energy is about to shift.”
The Celtics then went from battling for the play-in to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference standings, which ultimately led them to the NBA Finals. The Celtics have been performing at a remarkable level this season. Brown may be telling fans to appreciate the great times they're experiencing because it won’t last forever.
