Over 274,000 customers of Hydro Quebec are currently without power this morning due to a significant spring storm in the area.
The affected area, as shown on the utility’s web-based outage map, extends from near Gatineau to the eastern suburbs of Montreal.
In Ontario, Hydro One reports that 46,359 of its customers are experiencing power outages. However, the company has stated that its restoration teams have already reconnected power for about 125,000 customers since the storm began.
As of 6:00 a.m., Hydro Ottawa has listed only 63 affected customers.
Environment Canada has issued warnings for snowfall across much of the region, with up to 25 centimetres of snow expected.
Special advisories are in place for areas stretching from southwestern Ontario to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, where heavy wet snow is also anticipated. In the south of Nova Scotia, a wind warning has been issued, with gusts predicted to reach around 90 kilometres per hour.
