The Adamawa State Police Command has detained a 30-year-old man, Idi Adamu, for reportedly sexually abusing his one-year-old step-daughter.
Authorities stated that Adamu, who works as a barber, committed the offense on April 30, 2024, at his home in Wuro-Ardo, Mubi North Local Government Area.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Saturday.
He mentioned, “The mother left the child with the father to pick up some items at a shopping mall. When she returned, she found the child bleeding; she took her to a hospital and a case of sexual assault was confirmed.
“She then reported to the police, and we apprehended him. An investigation is ongoing, and he will be prosecuted for his actions.”
On April 23, members of the Rivers State Police Command arrested a 30-year-old man named Jeffrey for allegedly sexually abusing the teenage daughter of his landlady in an estate in Abuloma, Port Harcourt LG of the state.
It was reported that the suspect, who operates a tailoring shop in the estate, enticed the victim to his business place one evening under the pretense of altering her clothes.
But Jeffrey then locked the shop, overpowered the girl, and allegedly assaulted her.
