Local, educational board, and borrowing selections took place all over North Texas on Saturday, and the number of people who voted was relatively small.
In Dallas County, just 5.6% of registered voters took part in the voting process through early and in-person voting. Similarly, only 6.52% of Tarrant County voters participated.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Dallas’ entire $1.25 billion bond package was approved in the election, with fewer more than 40,000 voters agreeing to the taxpayer spending.
Unofficial election results show that bond proposals were successful across the metroplex. Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Garland, Hutchins, and Rowlett all had their bond packages approved by voters.
In Irving, voters rejected the city’s single bond proposition by a large margin, and in Lewisville, voters approved two out of four bond items presented by city officials. Apart from that, voters in Dallas County agreed to take on billions of dollars in taxpayer debt to fund the various projects listed in their municipal bond packages. Cedar Hill ISD voters also approved two bond propositions.
Outside of Dallas County, bond packages promising facility improvements, security upgrades, and more were approved in Castleberry ISD, Everman ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Lewisville ISD, and Mansfield ISD. However, voters in Mansfield ISD turned down three out of the five bond propositions presented by their school board. passed In Tarrant County, it seemed that the support of Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare made a significant impact on several races.
