The Buffalo Bills The Buffalo Bills selected 10 new players in the 2024 NFL draft and also signed several undrafted free agents. While some top picks are expected to start immediately, undrafted players face a tough challenge to be included in the final roster.
However, cornerback Keni-H Lovely, who was not chosen in the draft from Western Michigan, seems to have the best chance. The Buffalo News’ Jay Skurski talked about standout players in his Mailbag column.
According to Skurski, it's difficult for undrafted free agents to make the 53-man roster, but Lovely could have a chance as the No. 4 cornerback.

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler highlighted Lovely as a priority free agent in his draft preview. He mentioned Lovely's achievements as a defensive back in high school and at Western Michigan.
Lovely made 96 total tackles, 7 passes defensed, 6 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 touchdowns.
“Brugler continued by mentioning Lovely's exceptional speed, athletic abilities, and strengths as a tackler, as well as areas for improvement in Lovely's game.
He also acknowledged Lovely's talent, ball skills, and competitive play style, and discussed the possibility of Lovely getting drafted despite his limitations.

Heading into the 2024 NFL season, Rasul Douglas and Christian Benford are expected to start as the Bills' cornerbacks. The first-round pick from 2022, Kaiir Elam, will also compete for a more consistent role, while Ja’Marcus Ingram and Kyron Brown provide additional depth.
The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia suggested that the Bills could consider adding a low-cost veteran as their fourth boundary cornerback. Taron Johnson is considered one of their best players at nickel, and Daequan Hardy will be his primary backup. Taron Johnson is one of their best players, and [Cam] Lewis or the sixth-round pick [Daequan] Hardy will be his primary backup. Lewis usually practices with the safeties, so we’re not counting him at cornerback for the roster numbers but at safety.
The Bills signed three veteran free agents on May 3, but no cornerbacks. They could consider signing a free agent once $10.2 million clears from Tre’Davious White’s exit. However, Lovely, with his impressive 40-yard dash time, could make that unnecessary.
SI’s Kyle Silagyi mentioned that the majority of Lovely's experience is on the boundary, with 513 of his 646 defensive snaps consisting of wide positions. The 5-foot-10 defender will be competing for a place at the bottom of the Bills’ cornerback depth chart.

Another undrafted free agent corner the Bills signed, Te’Cory Couch, is more suited for the nickel position, according to Silagyi. He primarily played as a nickel cornerback at Miami, accumulating 482 snaps in that position last season.
Couch made 38 tackles, defended 4 passes, got 3 interceptions, and forced 1 fumble in 2023. A writer for SI said he's a bit worried about Couch's size, but thinks he has a lot of experience to offer the Bills. The analyst also mentioned that Couch will be competing with Daequan Hardy for the backup nickel spot in training camp and preseason.

However, Hardy might have a bigger impact on special teams. He was the main punt returner for Penn State last season and averaged 14.6 yards per return. Bills reported. Hardy scored two punt return touchdowns for 56 and 68 yards in the same game against UMASS, making him the first player in school history to do so.
Hardy, who is 5-foot-9 and 179 pounds, also made 22 tackles, defended 7 passes, and got 2 interceptions in 2023. The Bills cornerback Keni-H Lovely, who was not drafted from Western Michigan, is the most likely to make the 53-man roster., 7 passes defensed, and 2 interceptions in 2023.
