The Kogi State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has given the burnt bodies of the 13 people who died in the Obajana Easter Sunday car accident to their families so they can bury them.
The head of the FRSC in the area, Samuel Oyedeji, informed the News Agency of Nigeria in Lokoja that the bodies were handed over to their families on Wednesday.
PUNCH Metro It was reported that 13 people passed away in a Sharon vehicle that caught fire at Obajana market on Easter Sunday after a truck rear-ended their bus.
Two individuals injured in the accident are currently receiving medical care at a hospital in the state, the location of which has not been disclosed.
“If their relatives didn't come forward to collect the burnt bodies, we were thinking of conducting a mass burial here in Lokoja,
While discussing the possibility of a mass burial with the police and the authorities of Lokoja Local Government, the owner of the affected Sharon bus contacted us, and we found out that all the victims were from Plateau.
“The families requested that the bodies be handed over to them for burial, so we released the bodies on Wednesday. They arranged a bus to transport the bodies to Jos,” Oyedeji explained.
He expressed his sympathy for the victims’ families and prayed that God would give them the strength to bear the loss.
